Schools and Groups
Polkerris Beach is a great place for schools and groups to try a range of watersports and enjoy other beach-based activities. We are an RYA Recognised Training Centre for sailing and windsurfing (the RYA is the National Governing Body for these sports) and we are licensed by the Adventure Activities Licensing Service for our watersports. For all school trips, we can provide risk assessments and help complete Educational Visit (EV4) forms.
All our schools sessions operate under the RYA's OnBoard initiative, which has helped introduce 250,000 young people to sailing and windsurfing across the UK.

Local schools
Through a relationship with the Poltair School Sports Partnership, we have developed an exciting programme for children from local schools over the last few years, comprising RYA Stage 1, 2 and even Stage 3 sailing courses, taken in school time for year 5/6 children. Windsurfing and water confidence sessions are sometimes included as well.
Last year, the programme was extremely popular, with all schools rebooking for 2012. We take a group of children, some of them a bit nervous and most of whom have never been in a boat, and by the time they have finished six sessions they are having a ball – and have learned to sail. Essentially, we work with the schools nearby to make it possible for children to use and enjoy the natural resource that is right on our doorstep: the sea!
Our schools programme is delivered by a team of qualified, experienced and enthusiastic instructors who have just one aim: for everyone to enjoy sailing and windsurfing. Sailing can be exhilarating, exciting and challenging; all attributes that help to develop confidence. It draws on different skills from conventional team games and ball sports, allowing people to develop in new ways.
Sailing and windsurfing can count towards PE attainment targets in the Outdoor and Adventurous Activities of Key Stages 3 and 4 and the water safety element at Key Stage 2.

Visiting schools
Polkerris is a self-contained place, making it ideal for school trips and Activity/Enrichment weeks. We can offer various accommodation options, including our caravans, camping at near-by campsites and a Youth Hostel at Golant.
Suitable for Year 7's upwards, we can put together a programme to suit the individual group, depending on whether the objective is to achieve a watersports certificate, or to enjoy a wide range of experiences by the sea. For example, in 2008 and 2009 we welcomed the Robert Blake Science College from Somerset, who stayed at Polkerris from Monday to Friday. Their group consisted of about 15 children who spent an active week sailing, windsurfing, orienteering and playing beach games both in teams and individually.

Scout groups
The Polkerris Beach Company is located adjacent to the Polkerris Scout Group. In association with them, we are pleased to work with Scout groups from around the country, providing water-based activities.
Other groups
We welcome enquiries from any other group, comprised of children or adults. We have provided facilities and activities for birthday parties, sports and social club events and corporate events.
