The Polkerris Beach Company team is comprised of the Shillito family (Bob, Lynn, George, and occasionally Rachel and Jack) assisted by a flow of skilled and enthusiastic employees selected for their qualifications and ability to provide a service that reflects the fact this is a beach, not a shopping mall! It's about being personable and light-hearted, yet professional, safe and efficient.

Bob has been sailing and windsurfing since he was a kid, and eventually qualified as an instructor having already taught lots of people bad habits. He’s been running his own business since 1983 and still aspires to achieve the values in the paragraph above.

Lynn, when not supporting palm trees, is renowned for been organised: crucial when you are providing for customers numbering from one to one thousand, depending on the weather. Early morning visitors to the beach may catch a glimpse of her cruising out of the cove on a kayak.

George is a born-and-bred windsurfer with name for himself in the industry as Tushingham/ Starboard team rider, Boards magazine contributor and general purveyor of pranks and malarkey. No one is more enthusiastic about getting kids on the water and promoting beach life. In 2010 he finished 3rd in the UK wave championships. You can follow him at his blog here.

We do employ a range of people to do a range of jobs that reflect the diversity of our operations in a small team of around 12. The emphasis is on having the right skills and qualifications (e.g. instructor, food hygiene) backed up with the right attitude.
